We make all types of precious metal beads in our own Kartini Studio workshop located near the village of Ubud in central Bali. Each bead is individually handmade by native Balinese artisans - respected worldwide for their jewelry-making skills and craftsmanship for many generations.
The silver we use is .925 sterling silver (92.5% pure silver), and the gold plating is 22 karat gold (92% pure gold.). Our gold plating is "vermeil", which means it is at least 2.5 microns thick - over twice as thick as regular gold plating.
Each bead is unique; and no two Bali beads are identical. Attempts elsewhere to mass produce or copy genuine Bali beads have always failed. You can be absolutely certain that your Kartini Studio bracelet is a one of a kind piece of handmade jewelry.

Bali beads are fashioned using a combination of wire work and granulation on the surface of a sterling silver ball. Granulation is a jewellery manufacturing technique whereby a surface is covered in tiny spheres or granules of precious metal. Even-sized granules are produced by melting thin strips of silver, and then the granules are carefully soldered into position on the bead surface. This bead-making technique has been traced back to ancient Sumer about 5,000 years ago.
